Geriatric CounseLling

Our counselors are trained to assess, identify and treat late-life problems and mental disorders which can take a heavy toll on the senior citizens in their old age. Grief CounseLling

Grief counselling aims to help people cope with grief and loss following the death of loved ones, or with major changes in life that trigger feelings of abandonment and loss (e.g., Divorce). Denying or suppressing one’s grief will not make the pain go away. It will only make the journey more painful and difficult. Reaching out to a professional counselor and seeking help may be one of the best ways to help oneself in the healing process.

Behavior Therapy (BT): helps us to change behavior leading to change the way we feel. For example scheduling activity to help a person manage time better. Behavior activity also helps children who have poor social skills, excess anger, habits of lying, stealing.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT): Works to change negative thoughts in order to bring about positive change in behavior/ attitude. (e.g.). Angry people can control their anger by CBT.

Rational Emotional Behavior Therapy (REBT): helps to identify and dispute irrational beliefs. It especially benefits people with low self esteem who feel that they have not achieved anything in life. It helps them to re-access themselves and strengthen their esteem.

Relaxation: For a lay person relaxation means either watching a TV, listening to songs, indulging in hobbies or going on a holiday trip. However for a Clinical Psychologist, Relaxation is a technique, which drains the tension from the muscles of the body and induces a comfortable light sensation in the body. Further, it ameliorates anxiety and instills a calm state of mind.

Relaxation technique leads to the following benefits:

  • Anxiety reduces significantly.
  • Tension in the muscles gets diffused.
  • Improvement is noted in attention concentration.
  • Anxiety is alleviated.
  • Mental fatigue gets reduced.
  • Improvement is noted in Tensional headache, migraine, insomnia and other stress related symptoms are reduced etc.
Remedial Education Services

Is a bridge between curriculum and the child who has learning difficulties. This Special Education for children with disabilities aims at helping children deal with the academic difficulties in language, Mathematics, Calculations, Basic Reading. Written and Comprehension skills. IEP-Individual Education Program helps in improving the academic performance of the child. Each child is unique, not only capable of learning but also capable of succeeding.  – Robert John Meehan
Shilpa Reddy with the Child Guidance Team and the Trustees.

Earlier, parents and children had to be referred to various professionals making follow up of progress difficult. To provide remedial interventions with a holistic and multidisciplinary approach, a team was evolved to cater to all needs of children and adolescents.

A step by step procedure of evaluation is conducted and a plan of action is formulated after a thorough discussion with the team consisting of trained psychologists and remedial therapists. An occupational therapist and speech therapist are available on call as per requirement.

Child Guidance Clinic provides evaluation and evidence based interventions for:

RCGC provides a holistic program for the growth and development of the children who are often labeled as No Good by parents/family, school and society at large.
